River City participates in the Pine Tree League (U10 and 11) and the Maine State Premier League (U12 – u19) under the guidance of SoccerMaine which is our governing body and part of US Youth Soccer.

PINE TREE LEAGUE

The Pine Tree League is a Spring classic league including both non-competitive and competitive age groups. The league shall include Under-9 through Under-14.  Participating teams must be part of an affiliated member club and the club must enter and be responsible for their teams.  League play will begin April.

Premier clubs fielding U9 through U11 teams are encouraged to place those teams in an age group above that of their players to ensure fair play in the Pine Tree League. It is assumed that those teams have been training during the winter season with their club, and are not all from the same community.  All U12 and up teams from premier clubs are expected to enter the Maine State Premier League.

Players must be age 7 prior to August 1  to participate in the Pine Tree League.  Please note that 7 year olds (U8 players with birthdates between 8/1/2009 and 7/31/2010) are allowed participation in Soccer Maine’s travel leagues only to the extent that they participate on a U9 team.  They are not permitted to participate on U10 or above teams.  Clubs can decide whether or not to include U8 players with their U9 teams.
